Although I am not completely smitten with vinyl, I've got one of these inbound but the wife will probably not allow me to do any "auditioning" before Christmas day. I'll check in with my thoughts when I can.

Went to Record City and walked out $455 poorer. Wasn't hard to do - nice selections.

Under cloak of darkness and fighting a bout of insomnia, I crept downstairs to Santa's staging area with a box cutter in hand. Low and behold, the PS Audio box was already wrapped with a note prominently affixed saying, "Don't Open Until Christmas!" Curses! Foiled again

Yes I know My turntable, a vintage B&O 8002 with an MMC-1 cartridge, will be in need of a replacement. Any suggestions regarding what the best "bang-for-your-buck" complete package (table, arm and cartridge) in the $3k to $4k range would be? Thanks in advance and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I would recommend a Rega RP8 and Lyra Delos cartridge or a Dynavector DV20X. I like the simplicity of the Rega tables.

Thanks Miner. I like simplicity and I'll take a look at the Rega.

Santa delivered the goods and I am now the proud owner of a silver NuWave Phono converter. As some of you may know, "Boris the Blade" in the movie "Snatch" is fond of saying that weight is a sign of reliability and, if that is true, then this is certainly going to be one reliable piece of equipment.
It sure appears to be a wonderful way to digitize a collection of vinyl at just about any conceivable sample rate and bit depth and I am hoping the phono stage proves its sound is as good as it is reliable. The only problem I've noticed at this point appears to be documentation in nature in that the "inspected by" sticker on the bottom of the cabinet is unsigned so I am not sure if it was inspected on not. Coming from a background in electronic equipment design and production on quality assurance/quality control teams I find this a little disconcerting. |

Sorry for the necro bump, is anyone using one of these purely as an ADC? I looked at the Tascam DA-3000, but the Nuwave uses a superior ADC chip so I'm leaning towards it. Also the USB output for hooking up to a PC is another bonus.
