Anyone auditioned this? Wyred 4 Sound DAC2?

Read that it's the same kids from Cullen Mods. I'm not excited about the casing. In fact, it's kinda ugly.

Some here have it and really seem to like it. The TAS review is very positive.

I just ordered a W4S DAC-2 to serve as a good baseline evaluation point for future high res. research and purchases.

I agree on the looks, not so good in my opinion.

Heard it sounds great though.

I think the Wyred 4 Sound DAC2 is more attractive in the silver version.

Karl.......Looking forward to your review of the Wyred 4 Sound DAC2. The reviews have all been glowing. After hearing the ESS 32Bit Sabre Reference dual quad DACs in the McIntosh MCD1100, I am anxious to hear how your W4S DAC2 performs.

Will you be using any type of transport to spin discs, or is the DAC2 strictly for computer based audio playback?

Dan, FWIW, W4S gear in silver appears to sit on Audiogon longer.

All my gear from them is black, with the lights turned down a bit, the only thing I can see are their displays. And even those can be dimmed and disabled IIRC.

Thanks -- I'm not expecting this device to be my final word in DACs this year, but it'll be a good bar against which to judge other USB DACs that I hope to audition.

My PS Audio DAC was state of the art in USB DACs when I ordered it in early 2006, but I can't exactly use it as much of a baseline at this point. Therefore, the order. I don't like how the W4S DAC-2 looks at all, but I'm looking forward to giving its sonics a spin.
