Jeff...I have the VS-115's bigger brother, the ARC Ref 110. Very similar amp design/circuit. Only difference is slightly more robust power supply which will give you a bit more dynamic headroom. Sonic signature of the two amps are very similar. I like the sound a lot - tonally neutral across the frequency band, smooth sonic presentation but without glossing over transient detail which is all there, 3D soundstaging and imaging, and very musical. Do you mind my asking waht is the rest of your setup that you will be using the VS-115 in? Thx

Default ARC Ref 110 fan noise? ...
Hi Cyril,

I notice you have a ARC Ref 110. How audible are the fans? Do they run all the time or are the temp controlled?

Joe they are not temp controlled so they are always on. They have 2 settings (High and Low). If there is a lot of ventilation/space around the amp, I would use the low settings and sitting 8-10 ft away, I cannot hear them without any music playing. You have to get up close to hear them and even then they are unobtrusive. With music playing, you cannot hear them at all.

Today my VS 115 was delivered and hooked up to my Sonus Faber Cremona M's. Wow! Can not believe how good that combo sounds. Such a big change from my Krell/B & W pairing that they replaced.

Had one hick up right off the bat. Had one bad output tube. The dealer brought out a replacement from an amp they had in stock. Problem solved. They got the tubes biased and it is getting broke in as we speak.

My dealer told me today my new LS27 and DS450 will be shipping tomorrow from ARC. Can't wait!!!

Mike...congrats. I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts about the LS-27 and DS-450 combo when they are nicely broken in.
