Default Luxman L-505U integrated, your thoughts

I'm considering Luxman L-505U integrated to use for my patio speakers.
I will pair it with some James Loudspeakers 2-way speakers. 8 ohms 95 db sensitivity. I know it sounds like overkill for the patio but I spend a lot of time out there and I want good sound quality. Let me know what you think.

The Luxman 590 has exceeded my expectations in everyday.

Their products are of amazing quality, and have a sound that seems to have the warmth of tubes and the drive of solid state.

I am a believer.

My Harbeth 7ES3's have a Sensitivity 86dB/1W/1m and the spank with my L590 and I've not taken them past 1/2 sweep on the volume knob. Not because I'm worried the Harbeth's can't take it or that the Luxman will break up, its just to darn loud

Two Dot,

Are you using the Luxman with your Super 8's? How does that pairing work?
I have a pair as well that I use with my Leben 300XS.

The Luxman/Super 8 pairing is absolutely fantastic! I never dreamed that I would get this quality from a SS amp. There really is something different about Class A Power.

That being said, I do have a pair of used Harbeth 7es3's on the way, mostly because I have always wanted to try that Harbeth midrange magic.

I think that it will be really tough to beat the Luxman/Devore combination.

I am in the process of updating my system and the following Integrateds are on the short list:

505u

507u

McIntish MA6600.

I have done a lot of research and at the price point the 505u looks pretty good.
My local Luxman dealer has a new 505u he will let me audition at home.

I also found a slightly used (1.5 yrs) 507u for sale at a good price w/warranty.
I may go this route.

How is Luxman reliability overall?

How many fried Luxman products have you read about? I've not seen any myself so I figure the reliability is very good. My 590 has worked flawlessly since I've had it and the same with my CDP.

I owned the 507u for about a year running a pair of Sonus Faber Grand Piano Domus.
They had a wonderful soundstage but i did think they lacked a bit in the low end detail and "thump".
My Mcintosh MA7000 took care of all that I could want an integrated amp to do.

I should have added that in the I wouldn't decide on the 505 or 507 until you have a listen to a 550 or 590. Class "A" makes all the difference to my ears. Just seems to have an iron grip on the speakers, very controlled.

+1 Having recently gone the Class "A" route I am also very happy with the decision. The Luxman 550 was on my short list but I ended up with a Pathos TT as I also really like hybrids. Luxman makes some really nice gear. Good luck
