Default ARC Dac-8 Tested

Hey Jim;

I've been traveling a lot... Really enjoying the Sashas. I hear Larry is having his Wilson day as well as other supplier days in the Spring. We should meet there during the Wilson session. Let me know as the date gets finalized if you can make it. I'll probably bring my friend Ian you meet at last years Wilson day.

Chuck,

Thank you for the DAC8 critique. That is another piece of gear that is on my short list. I was hoping Jim would get curious and take one home and put it through the paces.

Any recent thoughts or updates on the DAC8?

Has the driver settled down?

I'm thinking about getting a DAC8 and a Mac Mini to begin my computer audio journey. Any thoughts or comments appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

The driver issue seems to be sorted out. No problems with the DAC8 and my Mac Mini -- sounds excellent.

Anybody have any suggestions for the best sounding true 24/192 downloads, preferably classical. I don't have any of these yet. Probably going to get the Pure Music software and try to figure it all out.

BA2060 -

Thanks for your comments.

Just ordered the DAC8 today. I do plan to order a Mac Mini. Like you I'm considering Pure Music.

The DAC 8 should arrive over the next 10 days.

Thanks,
Mike

I highly recommend PureMusic for a Mac Mini using USB output. PureMusic was just updated again yesterday. The feature set continues to grow and the audio engine continues to be optimized for processing efficiency.

The 24/192 content from HDtracks.com is excellent, as are the Reference Recording disks full of 24/176 wave files. I also buy high res. downloads from Linn Records.
