Default Shopping for a new TV set. Need advice

It's been a while since I have needed to upgrade a TV set. The time has come...

Have not kept up with what is out there and the ever evolving technology so would appreciate some advice.

I have about 12 feet viewing distance from the couch. Budget $3k, plus/minus...

Also, what BluRay player should I partner the new TV with? Current Oppo would sound logical? I've always had positive experiences with Oppo in the past.

Thanks!

I couldn't be happier with my LG OLED65B6P. I went with the Oppo UDP-203 although will likely pick up the 205 too. The LG list is $3k. Stunning TV.

Hey Serge -- what is the size you feel will be comfortable with? Are you still in the home you lived in 5 years or there about?

Best Sir,

Bob

Looks like CNET rated this set best overall? https://www.cnet.com/topics/tvs/best-tvs/

Hi Bob, new place, much smaller. I think 65" will be perfect. At 12 feet viewing I could go bigger according to most viewing distance calculators but no reason to go bigger than 65" that I can think of.

Good to know Dave! I don't have any immediate plans to have music in this room so the UDP-203 for $549 will do for the 4k movie playback. If my plans change in the future, I can always use the UDP-203 in another room and add the UDP-205 to this room.

I'm a Sony guy -- have been for nearly 40 years -- the 930 series is my recommendation. Bought a 65 850B -- no issues, love it & as like every Sony I've ever owned, no issues. Wanted the 75 at the time, but it was a cool $1K more and just couldn't swallow that then. Now they are in my range, but the 65 suffices.

Here's a recent link -- it's old -- but post 33 starts just last month. Post 36 is interesting.

Best Sir, & good luck shopping Serge,

Bob

My vote would be for the Sony XBR 65x930e. Just got the 75 inch version 940e and I love the picture.
