Smile Cleaning the MC275

I did a search and did not see a thread about this yet (I apologize if I missed it somehow).

I've had my MC275 for almost 3 months now and really love the sound. Now I see it needs a cleaning to get the dust out from all the available places on this amp. I live in Arizona so there is plenty of dust.

I don't want to use the wrong thing and scratch the beautiful surface or cause any other damage. How often and what do you use to clean yours? Is there an acceptable cleaner to use on the metal or should I just use a damp cotton cloth? Do you clean the tops of the tubes at all?

This is definitely a unit I want to keep very clean!

McIntosh recommends Windex. I tried-it and it worked wonderfully.
None of the printing seemed effected.

Wow - thats interesting. Using windex with a cotton clothe leaves the metal looking good without any scratches I presume?

An pounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

When I'm not listening to my system, the power amplifiers are OFF.

When they are off, I use a dedicated royal purple colored towel to cover them which keeps the dust away from the heat sinks and internal electronics

Default Cleaning the MC275

The dust covers are great. I have them on my amp preamp and power supply tho not Mc stuff. I use either windex or the spray glass cleaner available from Costco as they are even better. To remove the stray dust use a women’s soft facial cosmetic brush available at all pharmacies. Great for quick dusting tube tops etc. for a dry clean use the best micro fiber cloths I’ve ever found they are on the “A” website we all know called Magic Fiber. Awesome and the best I’ve ever found. I use them on lenses glass my Kuro Pro 151 plasma the meter screens on the amps and general equipment dusting and cleaning in rack. Outstanding and never scratch. Oh and I use them On my high gloss piano black finish Revel’s and never a micro scratch. Rinse in warm water let dry and voila’ all ready to use again. Both large and small size are fantastic. Large better for system maintenance tho.
The Radio Dust Covers are a must. The owner had mine out same day and arrived two days later Priority USPS. They’re about two years old and look brand new.
Enjoy

Just got mine today for my accuphase stuff. Amazing - well exceeds my expectations and may even pass the wife test. Truly top quality in appearance and quality - and about the cheapest accoutrement one can find in this game.

Just make sure the power is off and metal surfaces / valves are cold...

Fast and responsive (MC275 — my house is a dust magnet).
