While the LCD-X may sound amazing on an iphone, it sounds even better on my ipad. It also sounds even better plugged into an amp.

So Buggs, what did you decide to keep, what are you sending back?

I didn’t keep the Shure. As I mentioned they hurt my ears and was too complicated for me to use. I have a learning disability which probably is the main reason I had such a hard time with them.
Crutchfield won’t accept any orders from me anymore. They don’t want to even talk to me. They’ve ignored me in my several messages to them. I did demo the LCD-X and LCD-2 and Elear local. I ordered the LCD-XC and Dragonfly Red from Crutchfield but when I didn’t get any email with tracking I logged into the site and they canceled it and didn’t even tell me. When I emailed their support they have ignored me totally. So I have nothing now except the Bose QC35 II. And I would like to get the LCD-XC I think. Last edited by buggs1a; 11-01-2017 at 06:06 AM. |

I let my sister in law try my shure earphones. She had a tough time for what it's worth. Even after showing her I had to stick it into her ear for her.
There is a little red dot for the right ear, it takes a few times to get it right. Making sure the right earphone is going into the right ear is half the battle. The next step is bending the memory wire when the earphones are in so it's easier the next time. After that it's just practice. I'm curious to know what you think of the EL-8 too. The titanium is very expensive @ $800 but offers a lightning cable for iphone. There is a closed version in wood that's half the price but offers no lightning. |

Why is it "insane?" How many free shipping and returns do you think a company is going to accept before they cut you off? At some point companies and forums quit taking you seriously. Instead of sitting in front of your computer and blindly ordering stuff to "try out" from Crutchfield, AA, Music Direct and others or asking for opinions try getting out of the house and doing the leg work to find out what you like in person even if it means you have to drive a few miles.

Do you live in Seattle? If you have a passport, you could catch the greyhound to Vancouver, BC. There is a store called the Headphone Bar that has a variety of stuff on demo.

I think it’s a bit much to get a passport and travel that far just for this stuff. But it’s a good idea too. I go to a shop in Bellevue and got to demo a few. But there’s just so many they don’t have. But I really was amazed with the LCD-2. Then I tried the Elear and LCD-X. All great headphones. Except the Elear treble was harsher then the other too. |

I figured you might live in Seattle or close by because you said you saw Depeche Mode there...
That's not far at all. I've used my passport to travel all the way to headphone expos in Chicago, Denver, and NYC. I plan to go to many more. Like I said, earlier, I plan my vacations around them. High end audio is very expensive. It is important to me that I make the right decision the first time when I buy something. It is extremely rare that I return something. These trips are well worth it. I don't know if you guys have something similar in the US but up here in Canada we have Air Miles. I collect them when I go grocery shopping, etc. Aside from the taxes/fees, I haven't had to pay for a flight in years... |
