I have been to this site many times... They are gorgeous machines. When I first appreciated audio in college, I always wanted the R2R decks like the Tandberg, or even some of the later Pioneers like the RT-909 or RT-707. Now that I could afford one, I cannot bring myself to justify the purchase. The availability of tape, the room needed, and the fact that every other way I listen to music is just so easy.

One of the things in life that I came along just a bit too late.

I know what you mean. I bought my ReVox B77 MKll new in Frankfurt,Germany in 1986. I currently have 24 10.5" reels of music-mostly recordings from my previous LP12. I've got one reel that has a live FM broadcast of The Grateful Dead. I have not purchased any tape in a while, last I checked it was around $50.00/reel and that was in 2006. Tandberg made a excellent tape deck- both for cassette and open reel tape decks. Too bad they folded, they had really nice stuff.

The Tape Project also offers recorded tapes. The sound is advertised as exceptional.
