eljr.......Line level outputs are typically used to feed components such as tape decks, equalizers or other processors like a MEN220 installed a processor loop. Line level outputs can be used to feed a headphone amplifier. I use a line level output from my McIntosh C2300 preamp to feed my main system's output to a McIntosh 4300V receiver in another room that I use to power speakers on a deck. This allows me to use the volume on the 4300V receiver to control my deck speakers independent of the volume setting on the C2300 in the living room system.
