Default MCD1100 USB and JRivers Media Center

I have been enjoying my McIntosh MCD1100 through its USB input all afternoon. Since the USB update was completed on the MCD1100, high-res files sounds spectacular on the living room sound system. I'm using JRivers Media Center 18 software on my Sony Vaio laptop and it interfaces with the McIntosh driver perfectly. Listening to Lee Ritenour - Rhythm Sessions in 24Bit/96kHz right now. The MCD1100's ESS Dual quad DAC's really shine with high-res through the USB input and I'm not even using a high quality USB cable yet, just a five meter Belkin cable. I know a Wireworld USB cable would definitely kick it up a notch or two. It is a real joy to listen to high-res on the MCD1100.

Dan once you get a better cable it would be a nice write up to kinda compare the USB to that of the K-03

Nice! I love to hear observations like this one, Dan. And to see the system is even better. Bravo!

Speaking of cables. I seem to be doing things backwards. I have a WW USB cable new in box just waiting for me to get a DAC that is worthy of it. I also have a Shunyata PC, also waiting for me to get something to plug that into (I assumed when I bought it that my NAD could take it, but low and behold, nope). I highly recommend this strategy. They just sit there, waiting, patient but insistent.

Default Bit perfect configuration in JRiver 18

hi Dan,

Can you kindly post up a screenshot of your configuration within the DSP Studio, I think it was in JRiver 18?

I'm finding it hard to set it up just right for Bit Perfect playback. I've attached a picture of what I'm referring to. Under the Sample Rate, Input / Output, what settings should I have this at so that JRiver doesn't mess with the audio & allows for Bit Perfect playback? Depending on the theme choosen, I think there was one that shows a blue "light" when Bit Perfect is happening.

Thanks!!
Tony

Dan,

Just curious which output mode you are using in the jriver mp?

Does the mcd 1100 show correct bitrate of those hd tracks you are playing?

I did try the d100, play 96/24 track through jplayer but the d100 does not readout the correct bitrate info. it shows all time 192/32... Did I miss something ? thanks

Pat.......I am using ASIO output mode. No, the MCD1100 does not display the bit rate or upsampling frequency like the D100 does. I wish it did.

I am no computer audio wizard, so I am probably the least likely go-to person for answering computer audio related questions. Jus tguessing, your D100 may be displaying 192kHz because you are upsampling that file. Check your set up configuration.

Dan, try one of the WASAPI modes (start with WASAPI - Event). I found they sound best (and that's what I've read too). I'm using WASAPI - Event.
