Found a pic of my main rig in 1979!

Dan....the Revox A77 in the photos didn't actually belong to me, it belonged to Don, a good friend of mine. It was an "early" A77 model but you are correct, at times I wish I still had it. There was (is) something about the sound of those Revox machines. In spite of the fact that Don was actually the owner of the machine, for all practical purposes the machine may as well have been mine, since it was pretty much always at my house, connected to my system.

I like the Crown machine I have now, as you know it needs a bit of maintenance but I think it could be brought up to snuff pretty easily. Your Revox machine is really sweet.

One thing I meant to mention in post #8 on my Crown IC150A, aside from the one repair incident-in '92 or so I replaced the front panel due to worn lettering, etc. I acquired the last panel Crown had in stock, and to this day the unit looks like new.

Speakers were Janszen Z824's 2-12" sealed woofers and 8 electrostatic panels in each cabinet.
I have many fond memories of this system which I ran for 5 years.

Very cool. A top system for those days. I remember drooling about some of those very components - which were WAAAAAY out of reach for my teenage budget.

If you don't mind me reviving an old thread... I have the same set of Crowns as you do. My 150A has one bad phono input but all else was good the last time I used it. That would be when my DC300 zoned out. I think, by the sound of it that the large electrolytic caps gave out. But who knows after what 35 years? Anyhow a couple of years back I contacted Crown and they referred me to a company that repairs these amps (some of the original folks from Crown work there). Can you tell me who did the repairs on yours as I have misplaced the Crown info? thanks,
