Pete, I remember these! What an awesome vintage system. These were so far beyond my reach back when that, although I drooled over them, I quickly discounted the Crown line. It's wonderful to see it again. How does it sound compared to your current kit?

Pete it's looking very good. It looks like i'll have to make a Pete pilgrimage one of these days since as long as I've been into audio I've never listened to any Crown.

John...thanks. I drooled over them back in the day too, but like you they were way beyond my reach. I couldn't very well write Crown off then however, since I was already a Crown owner. All I could do was dream of owning this particular system.

When you ask how does it compare to my current kit, if you mean my living room system, that's a difficult comparison to make since that system has much larger speakers and sub, monoblock amps, and so on. But let's just say it is every bit as enjoyable in its own right, and it will only get better from here, as I continue to upgrade cables, etc. Comparing the Crown DL 2 to my McIntosh C40, they are entirely different animals, but I'd say it is easily as good, and maybe better. I'm astonished with it's resolving power, a joy to listen to even with my near field JBL 4401 monitors and JBL ES 250 sub.

How does this system compare with my previous Crown system? No comparison, especially in the preamp department. The DL 2 blows the doors off the IC150A, a preamp that served me well for over three decades. It's a fabulous performer.

Dennis....somehow I missed this post. Just give me a shout when you think you will be in the area. It will be probably a month before I have this system fully situated. I bought the first of the wood today so the rack project has "officially" begun.

Of course I have some more cabling upgrades on the slate as well. It never ends, you know...

Pete.......You're right, but the best part is you have the three Crown Distinction Series components, plus the power supply and the outboard phono stage preamp. That's the lion's share of what was necessary. The rest is gravy and easy to come by. When it's all said and done the Crown system will be a premium vintage system that will be the envy of many.

Stephen....thanks! I haven't any immediate plans to sell my old IC150A/DC300A but you never know. I do know I'm getting short on space around here...
