Default Your Favorite CD/LP At This Time ?

I tend to play the heck out of a favorite artist when I find one that I really like. Right now I am on a Patricia Barber kick. My favorite CD's of her are: Modern Cool which is FANTASTIC ! She takes songs you know and adds her flavoring to it, simply a must have and very very well recorded. My second favorite of her's is Cafe Blue then Verse and Nightclub. She has several others, to me these represent her best that I have heard.

Well, right this minute it would be: Pearl Bailey ~ For Women Only/LP ( label: Roulette - SR-25300/Stereo). My LP/CD favorites change on a daily basis.

At this moment it is probably Alison Krauss & Union Station - Live SACD. Most of the music is very good, it is well recorded and with the different types of music I use it to compare components or cables in my system.

I would have never guessed this a while back ... but:

Shelby Lynne's Just a Little Lovin'.

Great songs. Great voice. Wonderful 2" analog recording.

A perennial favorite is Roxy Music - Avalon. I find I'll put the SACD on 5.1 and closing my eyes about once every week or two.

Alberto.......I really like the Shelby Lynne - Just A Little Lovin' CD, too. Without reading about the recording, I knew it was originally recorded analog because I can hear a tiny bit of tape bleed through from her voice in a couple of the quietest spots just before her voice comes back up. This is something less revealing systems never even reproduce.

I have been enjoying two other CD's a lot lately, Paul Brown - The City, and Erin Boheme - What Love Is.

I put Paul Brown's CD on this morning, pressed the play button on the MCD500, and had planned to return to my office down the hall. I had the volume set at about 50 watt peaks on the 501's, and when the music began it stopped me in my tracks. I wound up sitting in my sweet spot and listening to the entire CD.........twice. Great stuff.

I like so many of the albums listed above. At this point in time, I love Katie Melua "Piece by Piece" and "Call off the Search". She is absolutely adorable and each song on each CD is terrific. These 2 albums will get a lot of play before you put her back on the shelf.

Now guys, here's a CHINESE (Mandarin) album you should own. The recording quality (piano, vocals) are simply outstanding. Its available in 3 formats, LP, SACD and CD. I have all 3 of them! Very audiophile over here has her recordings.
