Ivan knows best.

I left on 10mhz for a few days and didn't listen to it.

Tonight... Wow! Sounds incredible. I couldn't really hear a difference on the first few days. Now I can switch the clock in and out and there's a clear difference.

I'm hearing a bigger soundstage. More detail. More dynamics.

Everyone says to leave this thing on 24/7 but it worries me... I live in an area prone to power outages. I had a quick chat with Dan and he helped me pick out an inexpensive UPS for just my clock, nothing else. I'll leave it running all the time and not need to worry.

For the record, I tried a bunch of different clock settings and even changed my normal k01x filters... But after Ivan said what he did above, I set it back to my favorite filter and upsample options and 10mhz clock. I'm keeping it this way for a while. Sounds incredible, and I finally think I'm in the SOTA digital realm!

The ones I have are 50-ohm and unless you plan on going pure 10 mHz, they will not be of use to you. The Shunyata Sigma and Alpha lines offer both pure 50mHz and 75mHz. Despite claims and 'should not make a difference' statements, you should match impedance of cable to the impedance of the circuit in clocking uses (or anything else). It's interesting that Esoteric engineers as of late have even subscribed to this point of view which is diametrically opposed to their stance 2-4 years ago when they teamed with Mexcel to produce the 8N-A2000.

The 8NA2000s are also discontinued and hard to find. As you noticed I am taking a chance and selling mine; have made a choice to standardize on Shunyata SIGMA Clock50s with exemplary results on par with the 8NA2000s...the Sigma Clock50s are giving me more bass accuracy I believe than even that which came with the Mexcels.

Best Sirs,

Bob
I utilized the "MCLK" frequencies for quite some time between my D-02 and P-02 for word clocking while driving the D-02 with 10 mHz master clocking. The combination was excellent.

However....when I switched to pure 10 mHz using CLK THRU functionality on my D-02 and clock the D-02 and P-02 to a pure 10 mHz 50-ohm signal, the results were clearly superior.

10 mHz will be the standard here permanently....

Yes sir. I love esoteric, it's by and away the best digital front end I have ever heard. Such a beautiful sound, with fantastic clarity and articulation.

Today, I ordered the Aurender W20, so I can run dual aes/ebu from my D02x; next up will be a clock and a P02-X.
With that setup using Dual AES to the W20 and dual-HDMI between D-02X and P-02X will allow you to max out the capabilities of the W20 as input to the D-02X AND unlock "ES-LINK4" which is the highest potential mode of the D-02X DAC; this being only possible when pairing with the P-02X and using dual-HDMI.

Note: Esoteric does not utilize the HDMI Video/Audio standard on the dual-mono approach over HDMI. They instead (and much more wisely), abandoned the HDMI spec. which would force them to intersperse audio with null or blank video frames on the wire to conform to the spec; as a smarter alternative, they utilize HDMI only for its wire capabilities, i.e. all the pins and conductors to get the bandwidth of the cable without being bogged down by a spec that is not made for what they need. Much better approach and sound result...
