crion2 and Puma thankyou for your helpful replies. i am very happy now to wait for everything to bed in and start sounding its best. i just have some new speaker cables for below 300 hz to install (venom) and i really do hope then to leave the system alone for a good period of time.

in some ways i think all i wanted was my system to sound as good at 9 am as it seemed to sound at 3 am. from that initial impulse i have ended up spending near 35% of my system cost on cables/isolation/PD. sigma XC most expensive single item contribution to that overall "cable etc" cost. but it has tied it all together nicely. the speed and insight you get, the vocals particularly reveal dynamic bits you'd missed previously, plus the way it really ups the enjoyment factor, make it a sound (lol) addition i think :-)

I was able to pick up my Sigma XC this afternoon. It replaced the Alpha HC I had been using to connect my Everest to the wall. A long Roon playlist was selected and I went upstairs to kill a few hours. I will admit that I was a bit of a skeptic that I would see much of a difference between the Alpha HC and the new Sigma XC. If the first half hour of listening is any indication the Sigma XC v2 will significantly surpass my expectations. I am getting a bit of "hash" noise during loud passages but I anticipate that will disappear after the cable ins broken in.

I did pick up one each of the Sigma NR V2 and Delta NR v2 cables to dem 0on my DAC and Upsampler. I will wait a few days before inserting those into my set-up. I want to get a better handle on the Sigma XC impact.

Very cool, Jim!

Give the XC 2-3 days to fully settle, and let us know your impressions, we'll be very interested in your findings.

Enjoy.
