AK100 II is in the house. I haven't had a lot of time with it yet, but first impressions are that Stephen aka PumaCat was 100% correct: this is a great device. The sound so far is much more detailed with better soundstage and imaging than my old ipod, while at the same time not harsh or edgy in any way. The interface is also excellent, much easier than an ipod or iphone. The only downside so far is syncing: since I use a Mac, jRiver doesn't recognize it, so I can't actually sync it, I can only copy files to it using the Android file transfer utility. This is somewhat cumbersome, and rather slow when pulling the files from an NAS, however most of the pain will be done once I completely load it the first time. What I've done to simplify the process is set up a separate folder on my NAS for music to go the AK. I can copy subfolders for artists or albums to this "sync" folder from my main music folder, then drag the whole folder to the Android app and wait for it to load everything at once.
Can't wait for my first road trip (coming up this Sunday) to try this and my new IEMs on a plane ride.
