And the cost becomes even less of an issue for those who need to replace worn out tubes anyway.

I have not tried KT150s so I am not commenting on their actual performance. Just commenting on my observations (and actual experience) of what users spend for other items (power cords, footers, etc) trying to optimize equipment. The 150s sound like a bargain.
Once you try them there is no going back!

We are but Agaricus bisporus to the whims of the Omnipotent Audio Research Company.

Marc, I did attempt confirmation, via email, from the service department at Definitive, covering the Seattle area. I have not as yet received any response to my inquiry!

Jasper.

You could just call definitive...or call arc directly. Here is their contact info: http://audioresearch.com/en-us/contact-us

I was told it's a no go for the KT150s in the Ref 110 by Kalvin. But it sounds like they have been testing it and liking what they hear in the current production amps.

Sorry to hear that Cyril, I hope that you are not too disappointed, especially when one considers that the Ref110 is still a damn fine amplifier, with either 6550's or KT120's.

When one further considers that It would appear ARC have been 'life' testing this valve for over a year now , Albee that in conjunction with development of a new product line, I find it inconceivable that R&D have not concluded whether the KT150 is safe to run, or otherwise, In specific models, within the current Reference line.

Therefore, why there is still no official directive from ARC in this regard is, at best, a mystery, at worse, close to the choreographed confusion of real farce!

Jasper.
