Jason...who did the speaker placement/set-up for you. Loose bass could be a result of bass overhang as a result of exciting a room node, so there could be an opportunity to tighten up the bass articulation by moving the speakers around. I would put blue tape to mark the current placement if everything else is sounding pretty good to you and this way if after playing around with placement you are still not happy, you can come back to the current (original) position. Good luck.

The bass will improve alot over the first hundred hours. I have a Bryston 4bsst that I'm borrowing and should have some updates on how that handles the II's later today or tomorrow.

I have never heard anything from BAT or a Audio Research REF 110 but can't wait to see what you think between the 2.
I spent sometime with a Bryston 4bsst2 this weekend as well as a Berkeley Dac 2. I have been using a Mcintosh ma6500 and a Micromega DAC. The Mcintosh is a pretty old piece and the Micromega is very inexpensive. The Berkeley Dac made a huge improvement and the Bryston made a huge difference as well. The Bryston is outputting over 500 watts into 4 ohms and has a high dampening factor. This amp has incredible control over the bass output of the II's. The bass is deep and tight with the Bryston and it's kind of round and flabby with the Mcintosh. There are a lot of other details between all the components but it seems like the II's like some power! |

I am getting the same feeling overall that the O2's like power. I owned a Bryston 4BSST2 a couple years back. That is a beast of an amplifier. Very high damping factor and can really rock out on heavier material. |
