Sonus.......I think you misunderstood the dynamics of the Aida debuts, and the relationship Ivan has with Sumiko, and his good friend Bill (metaphacts), who is the Sumiko representative for Sonus Faber.

Ivan was using his site and his posts as an advanced tease to support the US debut of the Sonus Faber Aido in the three different cities. Sumiko asked all their sellers, including Ivan, to refrain from posting any advanced photos of Aida prior to the Aida's debuts. Some people, including yourself, had advanced photos of Aida. I don't think anyone minded catching a few sneak peaks as the photos got posted, but in the interest of supporting Sumiko's desire to keep a lid on advanced photos being published Ivan removed the Aido photo posts. As a Sonus Faber dealer, Ivan is bound by dealership agreements, and despite his close friendship with Bill (metaphacts), he was asked to tow the proverbial line. Most of the long time members understood the dealer/seller dynamics going on, so I thought you might be interested to know it was not a case of singling you out.

With respect to your post about this being Ivan's site, and he can do with it as he pleases, you are correct. None the less, you will be hard pressed to find a more open and friendly audio forum on the web. If your decision is to bail, then go ahead, but I thought some background that supports Ivan's actions on this particular event might shed some light on his actions. Audio Aficionado is an open site, or at least as open as it can be considering there are no moderators breathing down our necks here. I can understand your confusion, and your reaction. I also believe you demonstrated through your apology above that you are a respectful individual, and I would hate to see you leave the site over a misunderstanding. Stick around. I think it will be mutually beneficial.

Great post Dan. I personally did not think it was terse post per se. I'm gld you provided some perspective, rather eloquently if I might add!

I guess I disagree with your post and position. The whole Aida topic seems to have blurred the line here as to being a Audio Forum to exchange information, provide helpful advice, create a sharing community, and generally keep everyone informed as to what is happening in the industry and a dealer/sponsor thread to promote and sell product. When one gets in the way of the other you lose credibility. In this instance having the site and being a dealer created a conflict of interest.

If these were stolen photos I could understand Sonus Faber, Fine Sounds or Sumiko asking to have them removed. No, the photos posted here were from audio magazine reviews and those (probably) to be used in press releases.

The same photos that were posted and removed here were posted on other sites as press release type information. (Check out the Enjoy The Music Site)

I would have no issue if the site had maintained a complete black-out of information and photos until after the product was shown to the public. I do have an issue with the site being used to promote the release of the product and then dictate what is posted in response.

Totally agree. Many photos were already public information and easily available elsewhere. Also, as I recall, the member did not post the photos until after the first official presentation in Arizona.
