That's the whole point. If you were listening on computer speakers, it is very difficult. That's why dynamic range compressed and lower sampling rate music sounds fine on mid-fi, computer, earbuds and car speakers. Even speakers like Sonos which are of higher quality mask the lower resolution and dynamic range compression as much of the music is out there making it tolerable.

I got them all right except the first one which is simply crushed by dynamic range compression no matter what file you listen to. Pure garbage. But I am listening through headphones and my DAC that is hooked up to the computer so I cheated.

Up front - forgive me all believers, but...
While buying one of my non-mac units I was 'subjected' to high sales pressure to buy one of those fancy cables, but unfortunately the dealer did not carry 2.5 mile lengths since that is the approx. distance from my urban house to the nearest sub-station.

I mean if they can't get a power cord right, do they really have a prayer at the hard stuff?

That's how I see it anyway. Carry on...

My McIntosh benefits from Wireworld power cables. They’re not very fancy, but worth every dollar spent. Significant performance improvement over stock, exactly as it should be.
