70’s flashback, Cheryl Tiegs and Farrah Fawcett posters and the Pontiac Trans Am.

These guys did an over the top version of this.

How could you not order the optional “T” roof?

I still remember when terry Brinkley, the most quiet guy in our high school, drove up in one of these at the height of the craze. Blew us all away. Suddenly, he wasn’t so quiet anymore.

Nice looking car. I'd be a bit nervous trying to control that much power without all wheel drive AND traction control.

Unless I lived in Montana or Utah near the Bonneville Salt Flats, I'd be frustrated driving a car that powerful. I have a hard enough time being disciplined on my motorcycle and even then I run up over 100 mph anytime I ride more than 50 miles in a day. I think the car would get impounded if I ever bought something like that.

First let em say that I work for GM, but I have never driven one of these Corvettes - but I have driven cars with similar features. The thing is, they actually are super easy to drive. They don't behave like uncaged animals unless you really, really want them too. And you almost have to sign a waiver to get all the controls off.

It is not like the old days (the 90's) where you have a cable attached to the throttle body, and the further you put your foot down, the more it opens. These cars, and many like them from all the OEM's now, have calibrated throttles - they look at how much you press it, and then give you as much power as it thinks you want. They are calibrated by professional drivers and the car has settings that make it respond more or less aggressively (like track or touring mode). The tech is actually pretty amazing, and make the cars SUPER easy to drive.

I heard this baby gets three miles per gallon! Not that it matters if you want 1000HP.

In having ridden 1000cc sportbikes like the Yamaha R1, I can see how powerful cars (like powerful motorcycles) aren't going to kill you for moderate applications of throttle. The thing is, knowing the power is there I'd be tempted to seriously dip into the throttle to let 'er rip, which I've done with sportbikes on occasion albeit on the interstates to see how fast I can zip by cars as if they're stationary. A kilo-HP car would see me trying to immitate the space shuttle!
