The VENOM-HC was designed specifically for the VENOM PS-8. The VIPER is better for the application but not enough, in my view, to justify the cost. If you were talking about a source component then the VIPER WOULD significantly outperform the VENOM-HC. To get a significant jump in performance on a power conditioner you would need to go to the ALPHA-HC. which is four times the cost of a VENOM-HC. Use the money saved on the PS-8 cord to get better cords for your components. Looking at power cords from a complete system approach yields better overall performance.

It makes sense and a Venom PS8, Defender and HC cable looks to be a great way to lay down a solid power foundation and then start adding additional cables as time and budget allow.
