So what is the optimum length for the Sigma's? Is it the standard 1.75m or like other power cords which is 2m?

I will defer to Grant on the technical aspect of this since I've never used anything other than 1.75, but I know a thing or two about the secondary market for power cords and you'll have an easier time re-selling the standard 1.75 length due to higher demand. Just my two cents.

BTW. Thx VHiner for the review. It's your fault!! LOL. |

Thanks, Odd, but it was you who turned me on to the Zitron digital cables back in the day. So, turnabout is fair play. ;-)

Standard length is fine and considered optimal in ours and others brands. We discourage short lengths only because they are more difficult to re-sell and if they are direct-connected to a wall, they will not perform quite as well (incrementally) as a 1.75m power cord. A 1.25m power cord (the shortest we make) connected from the wall to a power distributor such as a Hydra is less of an issue for obvious reasons.
Shunyata power cords do not have significant inductive or capacitive reactance, so longer is generally better in terms of performance, but if space/aesthetic is a consideration, then stay with the standard lengths because the difference is not worth the trouble caused with excess power cord length. That said, Astoria's Mastering crew evaluated a 1.75m Anaconda with their modified Tim De Paravicini Studer reel to reel Master decks and had a positive result. However, they required an Anaconda power cord that was 27 feet long for their day-to-day application. The difference they noted once the 27' was delivered, according to Andy Jackson the Mastering engineer, was night to day favoring the longer PC. That was very telling. All else being equal, the greater distance between the wall and the component with well designed power cord isolation, the better the performance. This is due to cross-component interference and creating "quality" distance between what is in the wall and the component. No one needs a 27' PC, but cutting things too short could potentially harm re-sale and incrementally, performance is affected according to feedback I've received these past years. Excepting short lengths to a power distributor such as a Hydra, I'd recommend staying with the standard length power cords for best performance. I hope this is of some help. I am out of the country this week, but will look in as I can and follow up. Best regards, Grant Shunyata Research |

I've got a Alpha and Sigma cord on loan arriving later this week, look forward to hearing improvements over the stock cables. I have tested ISOtek in the past, but was not able to hear any difference over stock.
