The LP-S is a great decision Ivan. You can't go wrong. Top level cart for $5K.

I was toying with the idea of a new Benz cartridge. I had the Benz Ruby Z in mind when starting the research. Can't find that much information or reviews of the Ruby Z sonic performance. It appears the Benz LPS is a sweet cartridge, but I was curious if anyone has experience with the Ruby Z in comparison to the LPS.

I would do the LPs if the funds permit......or if your looking for the LPs sound and a bit more drive look at the Gullwing, same cartridge except the Gullwing doesn't have a wood body. The press refers to the Gullwing as "Think of it as the convertible sports coupe version of the LP S-Class"......I also like the Ebony too, great cartridge, the Ruby is a nice cartridge also but would be last on my list if I were choosing between the four......I have spent much time with all four and this is just my findings but as always YMMV!

Jeff,
Thanks for the response and sharing your experience with the Benz cartridges. I never even thought about the Gullwing since I thought it was an enhanced Glider. Now that I know more about the Gullwing maybe that would be a better match for my system. I have a completely tube system, and maybe the Gullwing will balance out the sound in case the LPs would give me to much of a good thing. When would LPs or Gullwing be recommended over there other?

All I can say is that Vandersteen had the same setup (featuring the 7, the most revealing speakers he's done to date) at CES 2011 and 2010 save for one thing: the cartridge. In 2010, they used the Clearaudio Insider and last year Richard used the Benz LPS. There was no doubt about it. Last year the system sounded immeasurably better with the Benz. Would be at the top of my list of cartridges to audition.
