Terry,
I'm very happy you are over-the-top pleased with your new projector and the theater as a whole. I hope I helped push you over the edge!

Remember the 720p/1080i vs. 1080p thread?

I'm definitely in the "wow this will be huge step-up" camp. You will be going from a 10 year old single chip 720p Dark Chip 2 technology to a three chip 1080p Super Onyx DLP technology. I think you'll see vastly improved blacks and on/off contrast ratio - the two things I think make for an outstanding home cinema experience.
Glad you are liking what you are seeing!

Tom

Tom, ... As you pointed out in the other Thread on the difference one would see between 720p/1080i vs. 1080p.

Major difference for sure as I have now gotten some real seat time in the HT.
This new Runco is an Awesome projector IMHO.
There really is no comparison between the Runco VX5000ci I had and this VX-11d.
Just totally a Day & Night difference.
I luv the Blacks and the Sharpness of Detail with this new one.

Watched Ky. play Baylor yesterday with my Niece and her Family visiting.
Man what a picture. !!!
My Bro-In-Law said to me when we pulled up the game, (Man that is a Picture).
Oh Un-Solicited ......

This Runco is just a Fantastic machine IMHO.
The Blacks, Color, Resolution/Sharpness and Brilliance/Brightness is just great.
Even on my 123" Stewart Gray Hawk screen the image is Bright.
I sit 16' from the screen and man things just POP and have that WOW factor when watching something like "Avatar" we watched this weekend.

On this Site this might come across as a lame comment but here goes.
Many I think on here are very wealthy but I also think there are some people like me on this site that are not in that category.
I mention the above for this next comment.
If you can afford a $30K projector I can tell you that this VX-11d is one, (Kick-Ass-Machine) guys.
You will not be disappointed I promise you.

WE all know that there are much more expensive models from Runco but this one in a dedicated HT environment with Zero Light in it is, (Bad-to-the-Bone).

I am so pleased with this unit I feel like I should pass this on to others that might be looking in the Future for a New Projector or Up-Grade of an Older Model like me.

Even watching the much older Westerns in Black & White the picture looks just A-OK.
Have-Gun-Will-Travel, Matt Dillon, Gunsmoke, Rawhide off Dish each day look just fine.
I never saw this with the older Runco Model but with this one I can actually see the Design, Fabric Texture and the very subtle differences in what they are wearing.
And those Episodes go back to the 60's when even I was a young kid.
They still with this projector look OK.
(Not Perfect) but certainly a major difference between the older Runco 720p and this 1080p unit.

I really like Westerns a lot.
I bought the,
The Man with No Name Trilogy (A Fistful of Dollars / For a Few Dollars More / The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly) [Blu-ray] (2010)

Really looking forward to viewing that set.

There is no doubt that I will be spending a great deal of Time in the HT.
I am one of the people that actually enjoys going up in the HT and kicking back, watching and listening to Movies, Concerts etc. on DVD & now Blu-Ray.

I'm just glad I was in the position financially to have this done and done right.

Terry
