Unplug the usb cable, uninstall from your computer the Macintosh drivers ?
Restart the computer, install the usb driver software again, the one from Macintosh's website. Plug the usb cable back if you see it's recognizing a new device you are good. When it finishes just run the update again without doing the process on the unit Sent from my iPad using A.Aficionado |

Have not done the USB update yet. Had to eat dinner and get ready for work. In any case, I tried playing some tunes as I usually would via digital coax input and NADA! No signal No music. Did a factory reset. Have to refigure the settings and inputs tomorrow. Goshhhhh what a pain!!!

Updating the USB is trickier, just try doing a full uninstall of the McIntosh drivers, reboot the computer, install the drivers back and upload the the USB firmware without doing the procedure on the instructions.
You may have to try a few times, like turning the c2500 on/off and your computer until your computer kind of recognizes that something is connected. Sent from my iPhone using A.Aficionado |

Update on my situation:
Even after getting the C2500 out of brick state, I could not get it to perform the USB update both, the McIntosh way and the suggested method on here. To make things worse, the USB version on the 2500 display shows 0.00 and I could not play music as I normally would utilizing the digital coaxial input. Spoke to a mac authorized repair tech (nice guy), he said that it's possible when the 2500 went into brick state, the DSP board could've been fried or simply corrupted. Needs to be sent back to McIntosh since only the factory has the machine to reset the 2500 to its raw state assuming the DSP board is still good. So I've got it packed and ready to be dropped off at the dealer. In the mean time, I'll have to use the Oppo as my preamp 😕😕😕 |

BTW I'm using a C2500 with a Mac Pro and haven't downloaded any drivers at all and everything works perfectly. Every once in a while if I switch sources say from Tidal to Audirvana and back I'll have to turn the 2500 off and on for it to be recognized again but that rarely happens. Sounds like you are having another issue here all together.

I was having issues with the C2500 USB locking up/freezing needing to be turned off and on which happened quite often I quit using it altogether. Thought an update will resolve the issue but apparently the update process itself has become the issue now. I'm just hoping I'll get the unit back in perfect working condition sooner rather than later. In the mean time, the repair guy has a tube sonic frontier preamp he's selling for $600 bucks! Maybe I can convince him to rent it to me :-)) image-2928446288.jpg image-2419601209.jpg image-3855049746.jpg
