IMHO the rumours about a successor model to the C-3800 are all just pure speculation.

For more than forty years Accuphase only came out with a new model, if it was audibly superior to it's predecessor.

So to all folks out there: please start to tell me in detail, what you think would need to be improved in the C-3800 (except for it's price, LOL).

Martin

Normal Accuphase lifespan is 4/5 years, in my memory only the P-7100 has been there longer (discontinoued, no replacement)

I am sure Accuphase will have enough knowledge to improve on the C-3800.
AVAA has become more compact in every integrated I have owned.

I understand it is always crap when a beloved piece of equipment gets a replacement, but as you say that there is no improvement possible, perfect, no need to change to a newer one if/when it comes.

AFAIK the P-800 was officially available from Aug 1988 until 1996 (!)

I did not say that at all !
All I did was just asking you folks out there, what you think should be improved with the C-3800.

Looks like my C3800 order didn't go through as well. No word on next production date or new model.

I am thinking more about this then the job I have to do there, haha.
Hi Olaf,

My prediction is that you will have a hard time coming back to NL, especially after buying the Magico Q1 - Accuphase A-70 & C-3800 combo.

I think most of the people here would agree that it would be abnormal to think more about work than about the purchase of a stereo rig of such magnitude.

This is very excited news! Keep us posted!

Paul

p.s. beside the Magico Q1 speakers, I would suggest to also have look at TAD, Raidho and Vivid Audio speakers.

Hi Paul,

Normally I put a cap of 10.000,- Euro maximum per piece of equipment, that way I am writing not too much money off after a couple off years.
With the prices in Japan (incl. import tax Australia) I am considering it, only pitfall is that the voltage will have to be changed.

But the Accuphase is not the only choice, I also very much like the Devialet 400, this one I can get in Australia for the same money as in Europe.

I am afraid that I am stuck to Magico speakers, they have something that draws me into the music, which I have less with other brands.

Anyway, I am looking forward to see how my apartment in Australia will be, that will also be a large factor, before I decide what to do.
(It's rented by the company I will work for, so I have not much influence on the choice, hopefully the living room is large enough)

Olaf
