Great concert DVDs not available on CD
Has this been discussed?
I used to have a Classe universal player, so I developed a small collection of concert DVDs that had great audio tracks but which were never released on CD. I now spin on Esoteric, so get better sonics from my red books, and will be getting the Oppo 205 once released to be able to spin these DVDs, so have started hunting for other good concert DVDs. I'm curious to know if any of you have any DVDs (or BluRay) with fantastic audio tracks for which there is no CD option. I don't have any video nor surround, so I'm mostly interested in those with very good two-channel audio. Classical, jazz, rock suggestions all welcomed. To get the ball rolling, some of my favorites: Diana Krall 'Live in Rio'. Live in Paris is both DVD and CD, but Rio is only DVD. Neil Young 'Heart of Gold'. Live at (the original) Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. New (at the time) plus classic pieces, with some personal commentary offered along the way. Joe Cocker 'Across from Midnight'. Live in Berlin. Eagles 'Farewell I Tour'. This set list and all performances are so much better than those on 'Hell Freezes Over' which was offered on both DVD and CD. I don't understand why this was never released on CD. Chick Corea & Gary Burton 'Rendezvous in New York'. Live at the Blue Note. Rolling Stones 'Four Flicks'. One tour, three different venues - stadium, arena, theater. Each with different set lists. So what are your favorites based purely on sonics, removing visual entirely from the equation? |
