Default DUO 175 review

http://www.bm.rs/Krell/krell%20duo%2...ber%202014.pdf

It doesn't look like classic high end amplifier at all once cover opened, more like a desktop PC power supply.
Fans failure will sure be serious problem for this amp.

Anyway I am interested in the Trio 300 to replace. My Proceed HPA3 .

Yes, fans cost less than serious aluminum fins. Weight less. And can be desirable in some application, but
Not for big money high end SS amp. I prefer a classic appearance and feel of 90's Krell.

I took a look, can't believe that's even a Krell amplifier.......you're right, it looks like it has the innards of a PC. Apparently gone are the days of the good ol FPB series. To me, this will always be a Krell amplifier.

I'm with you on this one. That and even with 4 massive fans the channels were still running unbelievably hot (according to the pic).

Don't know whether you saw the Ken Kessler review of the Duo 300. Thought he sat on the fence tbh - I think he wanted to write that this is nothing like the former Krell amps IMHO.

I think Krell have lost their way big time with this new range - styling looks cheap, fans - that the heck, smaller transformers than historically. Measurement data suggests that the power halves when you go from 2 to 1 ohm unlike the old fpb. Check out fpb 600 stereo doubling into 1 ohm with 6kw.

Really sad news and I am a big Krell fan and owner!

I feel the same. I wonder how many they have sold. It's like Porsche moving away from the flat six. I really hope they don't go to the wall because I really can't see who is going to buy this new range.
