If there are constraints with space or even storage space, it can be a difficult decision. It sure was for me!

Switched out to Psvane EL84 TII tubes on Friday. Very clear sounding, but not very warm. we'll see if they change any during the burn in process. Interestingly enough, this is the first time I've ever heard an EL84 tube. All my prior amps were EL34 based or SET amps. Love that the Inspire amps can accommodate all the way down to an EL84.

I bought a couple extra pairs of EL84's, some Telefunken (vintage), Gold Lion and Philips Miniwatt. And of course the Psvanes I have in there now:

I tried EL84s with Yellow Jacket adapters. I think that is pushing the tube compatibility a bit far, at least for my SEP design. Sounded pretty anemic to me.

Somewhere in this thread Dennis said to not use the Yellow Jacket adapters as they weren’t just passing the signal but were using additional parts to attenuate the signal. So I’m just using a straight pass through adapter that merely reroutes the signal to the correct pins. I don’t find it anemic sounding at all.

I believe I do have another set of adapters. I'll give it another try when I get things set up again.

Which adapters are you guys using for the EL84's? I've seen a few different builds on the bay. Can they be used in any of the Inspire amps?

I believe you will get 5 watts or so from the EL84's run single ended with adapters. Any generic adapter is OK, not Yellow Jackets.

Too bad we can't use the 2A3, 300b, 45, 46 in the Inspire Fire Bottle Universal SET.
Just dreaming.

That's what Dennis needs to come out with next! I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
