Hi Sancho22,

Congrats!
I also bought Flamenco few months back and enjoying them immensely with my VR and Cortese pair. I strongly recommend Werner's XO. It was a huge upgrade in my case. Ask him for expedite shipping if you don't want to 1 month delivery time.

I also have O93 and using CC34s to drive them. With Jazz and Blues type of music, I prefer Flamenco & Cortese match but my opinion could be biased since I rebuilt my own Flamenco cabinet. It was a fun project and the result was quite satisfying.

Cheers

Cool stuff. What type of cabinet did you build?

I've been using a Leben CS600 with EL34 on a O96 for over a year, and recently swapped out tubes to a 6L6GC and prefer it immensely. More rhythm and drive and connection to the music, but the EL34 did have fantastic tone. I believe Art Dudley mentioned he preferred Haut Brion over CC34 for the O96, I would think the same is true for the O93.

Flamenco and Shindo sounds like an awesome pairing. I'd love to try that someday!

I am getting closer to building stands for my Val's.

Would it be overkill to use 2X .75 inch baltic birch ply for the top?

Also, for those of you who have made a table style stand, how stable does the speaker sit? Could it easily be knocked off by a child?

I am planning to remove the skirt and use some Herbie's Dots between the stand and speaker.

Thanks!

I believe My Baltic birch ply tops are 0.75". Solid Poplar legs are 2.5" X 2.5". The legs are 8.25" tall, making my stands a total of 9" high. That height brought the horns up to around ear level, but I do sit on a zero gravity chair, which is lower than most. My Skirts are still on, but I do have a Herbies product (1 square on each corner) coupling the skirt to stands. I would say if you remove the skirts, it should be quite stable. Overbuild the stands, like I did. Just received my Duelund 16Awg....My plan is to try it in place of Belden 9497 from Werner XO to Atecs. I'm also going to try it on my Harbeths at one point.

I used the same 0.75 for top, but 4x4" legs and 15" tall
I would say it is not easy to push them over - but then again i am not trying really hard...

Was kind of shocked to see the Duelund 16Awg was a SINGLE run, unlike the Belden 9497. I'm glad I ordered 41 feet. To run an 8 foot pair of speaker wire, it looks like you need 4X (32 feet) the amount. Yikes- Still inexpensive, but a bit more costly than I initially thought. Package was so small, it arrived in my mailbox (-: I believe the same will hold true if I use it as interconnect, which I intend to try with the 20 Awg. Can anyone confirm that. I'm not the technical sort, but I think an interconnect is two connections on each end. So to make a 1 meter pair, it would take 4 meters.
