Right on bro! But why should they care? They get to hear LIVE music, while the rest of us have to spend megabucks trying to bring DEAD music back to life!

There sure seems to be a lot of hoodoo in what we do as audio nuts.

At the risk of a heated discussion. I thought it was time to revisit this topic. Looking on the internet using google as a search engine I could not find negative reviews for either panamax or ps audio; so much for the internet. While I know panamax on this forum is considered here by many on AA at the most as being mid fi and generally considered junk. I have to say I admit to having 2 of these units, one in my 2 channel and home theater. Here is the kind of thing one finds on the internet...."Panamax's MAX 5300-PM offers power cleaning and Linear Filtration Technology (LiFT) to eliminate the common symptoms of contaminated power, including loss of details. In addition, the MAX 5300-PM's isolated outlet banks prevent noise created by one component from contaminating the power going to another component. " Knowing that Dan, Ivan, Serge and others were right about the 501's, the mcd500, the wireworld cables... I am thinking about getting a ppp. Here is a observation: I have noticed that when my 501's were plugged into my panamax the stereo sounded good and I was not aware of a problem, but when I plugged the 501 amps directly into the wall it was like a vail was removed. Obviously something was being restricted even though the current meter never went above 3 amps during this comparison. Doing this same test on my C220 and MCD500 I could not hear any difference. My dedicate power line to the MC501's is only a few feet from my circuit breaker box, so the line is very short. My JLF112 is on its own dedicate power line plugged directly into the outlet. Anyone else here switch from a panamax to the PPP and not feel it was a worthy upgrade ? Ivan if returns are even possible has anyone ever returned a ppp ?

I've not found any benefit by using power conditioners/power re-generators. The stuff in my digital playback system gets plugged straight into the wall. With my analog system the MA6500 goes straight to the wall and I use a cheap Radio Shack power strip( it's the best that I could find and it does not take away from the sound) for the rest of my components for that system.
I've noted additional noise/distortion and other strange things using certain brand name power conditioners & power re-generators.

David.......I am happy to hear this. You know I am only poking fun.

On your subject, the Panamax 5300-PM cannot be compared to the PS Audio Power Plant Premier for a number of reasons. The Panamax is essentially a filter, surge protector, and power strip, nothing more. In fact, it is a current bottleneck, as you have already discovered when you plugged your MC501's directly into the wall outlet and found they sounded much better. The power strip might as well have been called the Panamax 5300-PMS.

The PS Audio Power Plant Premier is a complete, efficient AC power regenerator, converting incoming 120 VAC to DC, filtering all noise from the DC voltage, then coverting the clean DC back to a pure, clean, very low THD AC line voltage. The PPP is also a voltage regulator, able to raise or lower the output voltage to exactly 120 volts, and very useful for people with under or over voltage problems. In addition, the Power Plant Premier is able to store power in its bank of capacitors so that on momentary high current demands the PPP is able to quickly deliver current as high as 50 amps short term. Added to these many great features are surge protection, the absolute latest in Nano Crystalline filter technology, ten outlets with each PS Audio Power Port duplex receptacle able to be switched and/or delayed for power turn on, plus remote trigger control, and a digital front panel display. With the Power Plant Premier you have a power delivery system that cannot be matched by anything Panamax manufactures. There is no comparison between the two products at all.

There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that I have added to my systems over many years that has given me more "Musical" reward and pleasure than the PPP's. They provide the electronics virtually pure AC to perform at their best. Amps, preamps, cd players, etc. have given me bass, definition, presence, soundstage, depth and dynamic range but the PPP's allows a richness, humanizing of vocals, sweet highs that I can never be without again. At the new current price, they are THE TRUE bargain in audio.
I apologize for having said this before but I really love this product and David needs constant reminding.

No, I have never had an unsatisfied PPP owner. I also told you the MC501's would sound much better by passing the Panamax.
