Bowers and Wilkins 802 verses Focal 1038 BE

Comparison: 803 Diamond ($11,000.00/ 3 bass drivers) to Focal 1038BE ($10,999.00/ 3 Bass drivers)

804 Diamond ($7,500 / 2 Bass drivers) to Focal 1028 BE ($7,000.00)/ 2 bass drivers

Question is: without use of sub in Analog Stereo Direct mode, will the 1028BE provide sufficient bass for room size 24' long x 14' wide.

Please provide your valued insight as I humbly rely on your collective opinions.

MervD i had the 803di but the LF /Bass were too harsh!

with the 802 are much better (more 'subsidiaries)

I'd take the 804di. a wonderful speaker.

Superfrg now i have the Wilson Sahsa2 but instead of 802di would consider new Sopra2!

MervD, if you don't need to purchase right away as has been discussed on another thread there seems to be strong indications that B&W will update there lineup this fall so there might be something there that is of interest to you. That would also see a selloff of current product so you might be able to find 803's for extremely good prices.

It's been a awhile since I listened to the 1028BE thus can't remember how it was in the bass department compared to the 804 but with the 804 in a room your size I personally would want a pair of subs, no question.

I have to say, after going on a recent rush of speaker auditioning with a local AA friend.... I have a new found respect for my 802 Diamonds. I think they are just about as good as I thought they were.

good idea, wait for the new 800 Diamond series and may get fair market value for the 803 diamonds.
