Bookshelf speakers are full of compromises. This a movie set, not reality, and you make good points, but as some one who always wants the best- I wouldn't be satisfied with 600 series - regardless where I used them

I think that was a salesman who identified how much money you could ACTUALLY spend and convinced you that you would have no problem spending that kind of money on the 805D- they are excellent speakers. I would never accidentally play the wrong $5K speaker. Would you?
The 802D is one of the best and it's priced to match, everything else is equally matched in price as you move down the line. There are no sleepers or under value here- you pay for what you get. |

OldTex, I have both 805Sig and 802Di, and as you say, the 805's are amazing, and it is surprising how deep they go. I believe a 2 way book shelf is "easy" to make, what is really hard is to integrate real bass drivers into the system, and the 802's do this exceptionally well. In essence the extra $14,000.00 is for the bass enclosure and the woofers!!! Having lived with 802's I won't go back, but had I not heard them, I would still be very happy with the 805's.
