For $4k, I would rather have a pair of JBL LSR 708P.

I ran several inflation calculators and $750 in 1970 is equivalent to $4800 in 2018.

So this baby is a bargain!

Will pioneer reintroduce the SX-1250? That would make a great pairing.

Bought a pair in 1977 while heading back to University of Missouri - Rolla _ the L100 Century model. More hype than substance. Sold them before end of semester.

Dan,
I paid about the same amount for my JBL L100's back in the 70's. At the time, it seemed like a million dollars. I still have them connected to my Crown IC150 and a pair of Crown D150a amps in a room upstairs. They're still rockin'...

I bought a pair of them from a pawn shop in the early 80's and paid $150 for them. Kept them through the rest of high school and all of college (great party speaker). Sold them when I bought my 250Ti's. For $1500 a pair or less I'd buy a pair for my gym. I can't imagine they are worth $4000 though with all of the other great speakers out there in that price range ... Just my opinion!

If Harmon wants to play on nostalgia ... why not bring back the Infinity IRS Beta's? Heck for that matter what about some Kappa 9's so we can use them to test amplifiers?

It would appear there has been considerable engineering evolution included with the new version. The 12" woofer looks like a pretty serious driver.

Google JBL 1200FE-12.

I paid about $700 I think for my L100A's back in 1977. That was big money for me then. I really liked them, but sold them when I bought my L220's in 1982.

As to the $4000 price, one does have to consider inflation, together with the engineering improvements that are sure to be evident.

But having said that, I would probably sooner spring for a sweet pair of late production L100A's with a nice pair of the reproduction Quadrex grills that are available today.

I still find myself browsing to see what the L100 offerings are out there.

Would I do it? Who's to say...I am a sucker for nostalgia.

Last time I heard a pair of these was in a record store in the 70’s. They had them on shelf above ear height and were playing the current hit album Rumours. I’ll never forget how much I enjoyed the sound.
