Magnepan .7
I used to have 1.6`s and 3.6`s in my system several years ago when I switched to a cone speaker. Most recently, and on a whim, I put a pair of .7`s in my system and absolutely loved them...so much so, I am in the process of replacing them with the new 3.7i`s. I will still be using the B&W 802D`s for Movies.
The .7`s have such a beautiful sound, and seem much more coherent than I remember my previous Maggies having. I also don`t feel they need any type of tweeter attenuation, as the previous generation needed, IMO. |

David,
Welcome to AA and thank you for posting your thoughts on the .7's. I have not listened to them but they seem to be very well received. I will be interested in your review of the 3.7i's once you get them dialed in. ~Mike Last edited by mgard; 02-19-2015 at 02:27 PM. |

I read the test of the .7 in Absolute Sound. I agree with them. Only for my small room I cannot advise any subwoofer. I have enough true bass. And in a small room you cannot invite a bigband or symphonyorchestre. Anyway also with bigband and big orchestres they sound great!

Will do Mike, also on order are the Sound Anchor stands and HiFi tuning fuses. Contemplating a DWM bass panel or 2, but going to wait and see how the bass response measures after installation and break-in.

I love the Magnepan 3 Series for 30 years now. In my opinion about 95% of all people should be very happy with them. If you have a few thousand to spend and room enough, buy a used pair.
Smaller as the 3 Series always gave to little bass for me. You really need the 40Hz in music. That has nothing to do with a small or a big room! My small room is 300cm x 450cm and my Millon's give 35Hz very well. I haven't heard the .7 but there has the be placed a lot of air for low tones. So I think a subwoofer in future is a need. Why I don't have a pair of Magnepan 3 Series? I cannot use two extra doors in this small room I see here at this forum a lot off people having equipment about 100.000 dollar and higher. For those who haven't that kind of amounts, read the above
