Default New Magnepan/Bryston Processor

Here is an interesting e-mail I received from Audio Consultants, a Chicago audio store, for a new Bryston processor designed for Magnepan.

I wish I could attend the demo to meet Wendell, but I will not be in the city next week.

Spend An Evening With Magnepan

We invite you to attend a very special demonstration of the Magnepan 3D-state-of-the-art imaging system at our Chicago store on Thursday, July 14, 2016. Demonstrations will be ongoing from 4pm-9pm.

Sometimes called a ”3-channel” stereo system, it consists of the new Magnepan/Bryston processor, designed exclusively for Magnepan, and 3 identical Magnepan speakers. Magnepan believes you will experience ‘holographic” imaging not heard in any 2-channel speaker setup regardless of price.

Wendell Diller of Magnepan will be on hand to take you though the demonstration.

Please call our Chicago store at 312 829-5950 for more information.

Carlos - it sounds to me Magnepan and Bryston are teaming together to address what in my opinion is Maggies' greatest weakness, which is front-to-back soundstaging given their bi-directional radiation of sound waves. Gifted Listener Audio in Centreville is a Bryston and Magnepan dealer, so hopefully Tom Unger will be able to demo this setup soon.

Yong - I see what you mean. I consulted with an acoustic treatment firm (GIK) and they recommended diffusors to be used on the back wall behind the dipoles. I might get a couple of those panels next.

I have ASC sound panels mounted on the front wall. The GIKs will probably work better because they're wider and will thus absorb a greater portion of the back-radiated wavefront. Let us know how they work in your room.
