Default HTSteve HT Room

We has a flood in our basement in early August. Fortunately, almost all gear was missed. The room, however, needed to be partially rebuilt.

I took the opportunity to improve the build and add some nice touches to the HT Room. Pictures are attached (from the time of the flood to completion).

I let out a massive sigh of relief when you said none of the gear was hit.

I would have 'd.

Dig the Trek poster, too.

I got that when the local Blockbuster went under. I think it was like $10 framed.

WOW!!!!! Were you lucky. When you re-did the room, did you do anything to reduce the chance of the room getting flooded again?

Our area got between 5 and 6 inches of rain in about an hour. It simply overwhelmed the drain system. We've lived here over 20 years, never had anything remotely close to that. A freak of nature. We only got a few inches of clear rain water. Neighbors got anywhere from 1-3 feet, often with sewage.

When I built the room 6 years ago, I had one way valves put in the two drains in the basement. I believe this 'saved' our basement, especially the HT room.

That said, I got new, taller feet for the Salamander entertainment center. Moved more expensive sources to the top of the EC. Raised the rear speakers (mainly done to improve sound quality in the rear of the room, but with nice side effect). There is very little, other than cables, that is on the floor now.

And I now have a water backup rider on my home insurance.......

Bummer about the flood but it's great to see no serious audio gear damage was done.

Did you upgrade any of the dedicated electrical for the system while you had the walls partially out?

I like the results!

I hope that freak of nature does not strike again. Your system looks great all put together again.

Thanks. And a good question on the electrical.

I had two dedicated 20 amp circuits before. I added a 3rd 20 amp circuit. Still working on best usage of the 3rd circuit. My inclination is processor and projector on 1, the two mac amps on another, and the sub/sources on the third.

Also, I upgraded the receptacles to PS Audio PowerPorts, by way of Ivan.

Steve
It was good talking with you at Larry's event last Friday evening. With the pictures I now understand some of what you were explaining regarding the corners. Nice job.
