Looks like he was trying to save the slide by goosing it but he may have overdone it. Not easy to catch a slide at higher speeds. Left some tread marks on the racetrack.

Operator error no matter what is said or reported in the weeks to come.

How embarrassing to the Exec and to GM!

“Come buy our super car that is too fast for our Executive in charge of development”

Craig, perhaps it would have been better if Tadge were driving , regardless, tough day for GM. At least Will Power got on the podium for Chevrolet.

I bet IndyCar is rethinking who they allow to drive pace cars - although I just read the exec is an IMSA qualified race driver. He must feel awful!

Many bone head decisions IMO:

1. No helmet

2. Obviously traction control was turned off. Under normal circumstances, the Corvette "nannies" do a great job of addressing things like this.

3. Cold tires

4. Perhaps a bit too much exuberance

Hopefully the driver is OK. He hit the wall pretty hard - it doesn't take much to sustain a neck injury.

Mark Reuss on his facebook page.

"I want to thank you all for your well wishes today. I am ok," Reuss wrote on his personal Facebook page. "I have driven this course many many many times. I have paced this race in the wet, cold, hot, and calm. On Z06's, Grand Sports, and other things. It is never a casual thing for me, but an honor to be asked.

"Today I let down my friends, my family, Indycar, our city and my company. Sorry does not describe it. I want to thank our engineers for providing me the safety I know is the best in the world."

Looks very similar to Grosjean's mess up in the start of the Spanish GP. He had
already lost it and kept on the gas making things worse. At least here, everyone
was slow and warming tires; in Grosjean's case, it was lap 1 at race's speed.

The driver in first place (?) must have been a little amused when he turned into
the left hander...
