All PCM and red book material I use filter 4, 5 or 6 with DXD upsampling,
For DSD, dsd filter 1 and upsampling to 2xDSD
For MQA material I use the specific M1 filter with DXD upsampling

Biggest gain for me is the 6V output setting, this ads dynamics and resolution to my system. (might have to do with the Aavik U-300 input)

On my Vivaldi I previously used DXD for everything save for MQA. Lately I have been going with 2 X DSD and that has worked nicely. At some point I will probably go back to DXD just to see if I like the change again.

I haven’t really had too much time to explore the features yet with work, kids, etc..but so far to my ears, 1 x DSD sounds the most natural and lifelike. I feel that with DXD, the music has a slight harsher edge.....it still sounds very good, there’s a much more natural sense of ease to my ears with DSD. This is using my Ayre CD player as a transport....I haven’t really dug into the streaming aspect yet.

Has anyone experimented with the different MAP settings? I have mine set to number one.

For several months I used MAP3 and recently went back to MAP!. I like having the ability to instantly hear and differences using the Mosaic App to toggle between the settings.

No map here.

I have owned a Puccini and tried a Rossini and a VivaldiOne, but having played all of my life as an amateur musician, I like the "upfront" sound of Esoteric.

However, most listeners like DCS or MSB better as they not as "bright" or "digital."

FWIW...

I need to be careful and not get too carried away with the different filters and settings! I spent a couple of hours last night going back and forth between Tidal and Qobuz Hi Res streaming.......I like the mosaic app, it may a bit bare bones compared to Roon, but it gets the job done, saves a bunch of money since it comes ready to use and avoids having to have yet another computer in your life when you're listening to music. I did several comparisons between the two streaming services and realized after an hour I may be wasting my time since it really seemed more dependent on the recording/mastering than the service. You can drive yourself crazy trying to hear differences between files, but all in all, the MQA and Qobuz Hi Rez sounded fantastic on most things I tried and couple not so great. Even though I'm still a physical media guy, I always missed not having the capability to browse the "what are you listening to" thread or a Stereophile review and instantly pull up an album and check it out. Problem solved, the dCS Rossini is one fantastic piece of gear. Trying to avoid thinking about the clock but I'm sure it's inevitable.

Be open minded on the external clock, timing wise the rossini itself is as good, in my system the soundstage with clock became a bit wider but also about a meter closer to the listening seat, I prefer the rossini running solo, but as always, it might be different in your system

The improvement with the clock is not subtle. It’s a bit like getting a new DAC. A nice upgrade when you get the itch without having to take any depreciation.
