Just don't sand on it. It's toxic if you inhale the dust into your lungs.

I have to agree that the journey is as fun as the end choice. For now my system would be:

Amp- Nagra 300b

Preamp - Nagra Jazz

Speakers - Devore O/96

Cabling - Auditorium 23

Digital Source & DAC - Esoteric K-03

Analog Source - Avid Acutus w/ Dynavector XV-1s cartridge & EAR 834P phono stage

Box Furniture Co. Rack

I would build a very nice room similar to the one used in Daryl's House.

Live From Daryl's House with Daryl Hall :: Homepage

I would stock the room with a nice set of Tama's. Some nice vintage Fender and Marshal tube amps. A nice Steinway. Then pay local starving bands to come play. The word would get out that there is some rich dude with a nice home venue that pays decent money for a one nighter. I doubt I would ever turn the stereo on much once I get the gigs coming. So I would have a jazz night. A folk night. A rock night. A classical night. And a blues night. Oh hell I might even have a country night. I just love live music. And if I can control the volume and the PA system and the room acoustics, there is plenty of talent out there looking to make some money. OK, its a pipe dream. But it is possible.
