Default Received my Ref 250SE amps
Hi,

I just received my Brand New Ref 250SE Amplifiers today. Before this I had REF 250 in my system and tried REF 75 and GS150 before buying REF 250 SE. Will upload some pics.

Now i have to go through long burning process.

Congrats. I'll be very interested to hear your thoughts on the difference between the 250 and the 250SE! I plan to upgrade my 250's to the SE once my tubes are in need of a change.

I wonder if one could use a set of older or "less desirable" used tubes, such as KT120s to break-in a new SE amp?

I would think so, even tho a couple of resister values germane to the KT150's in the SE are undoubtedly optimised for the slight difference in draw, I would be surprised were the circuit to operate outside the safety margins of KT120, crank the bias by 10>15% or so just to be on the safe side!

However, as in all these matters, It would be advisable to seek the official line on this via Kal at ARC Central Command!
