Default Dave Brubeck...

What is your favorite Dave Brubeck albums (beyond Time Out) that you would recommend to further explore his discography. I just have Time Out but I want to explore his music further and would appreciate your recommendations. Thx

d. Jazz at Storyville (Live, 1955)
e. Jazz Goes to Junior College (Live, 1958)
f. N.Y.C., Carnegie Hall, February 22, 1963 (Live)
g. Time Further Out (1963)
h. The Last Time We Saw Paris (Live, 1967)
i. Compadres (1968)
j. The Gates of Justice (1969)
k. 1975, The Duets (1975)
l. Paper Moon (1981)
m. Park Avenue South (Live, 2003)
n. Private Brubeck Remembers (2004)

Should keep you busy for awhile.

Hey Cyril,

I've got these on cd;

Live At Starbucks

Dave Brubeck Quartet - Live At Carnegie Hall (Japanese)

Together Again For The First Time (MFSL)

like yourself I would like to find more recommended recordings. I do however, highly recommend those above especially Carnegie Hall.

Thanks Bob for the list. I need to add to my collection. I've probably got some of those on vinyl but with about 8,000 lps and no particular order they can be hard to find

Thx very much Dave. I will certainly check these out. I was going through my music collection and realized that I have a lot of Bill Evans stuff but just Time Out for Dave Brubeck yet it seemed to me that he was just as influential as Bill Evans with his creative ryhthms/timing and lyricsm and phrasing. I am looking forward to getting to know his music better . Thx again for the recommendations.

The first two (but on vinyl I believe), the N.Y.C., Carnegie Hall, February 22, 1963 (Live) and available on CD, Compadres (again vinyl only??), 1975, The Duets (available on CD), Paper Moon (also on CD) and finally, Private Brubeck Remembers (available on CD & SACD).

A vinyl remaster of Bill Evans is coming out sometime (2010??). Supposidly remastered by Steve Hoffman. You can never have enough of BE.
