EAC is a software program called Exact Audio Copy used to rip CD's to a file format for archiving and digital playback via a computer/music server. DbPoweramp is another program that does the same. Both offer flexibility in the type of output file created and the level of archiving, up to and including a "bit-perfect" rip.

Just discovered something cool that is probably obvious to everyone but me. E strongly advised me to hard wire my Silenzio and NAS to my router, so I did. Last weekend and this one too the internet feed from the modem has been weak or outright failed. Nonetheless, Silenzio is playing fine. In other words, hard wired allows the network to function even when internet and wifi is inoperable.

Yes. This, with a gigabit switch between NAS and Silenzio!

Yes, hard wire within your gigabit LAN is best! That's how I have my music server connected and it never misses a beat!

I have mine hard wired, but still had a problem. I'm new to computer audio, so after ripping several hundred CDs, getting a message on JRiver saying "there are no files" was a bit of a shock. Of course they were safely on the NAS, but the NAS wasn't visible on the network. With my limited knowledge all I could do was to reboot the NAS, which made it visible on the network, and download the files again. After the fourth time I contacted Emile, who diagnosed a faulty router/modem. My provider sent a replacement, which, so far, appears to have cured the problem.
Emile noticed a big improvement when he last connected to Silenzio with the replacement router/modem in place. Last edited by Tremayne; 07-26-2015 at 11:40 AM. |

Yes, but I attribute it to the K-01 USB port burning in, rather than the Silenzio burning in. How about yours?
