lp2.1 gain is fixed at 60db.
0.4mv cart is borderline with that much gain imo. 64 - 68 would be preferable. or a cart with 0.5 - 0.6 would be less load on lp2.1 depends on the rest of your system too. |

As a matter of interest just prior to ordering my LP 2.1 Deluxe I telephoned LAMM and Vladimir himself picked up. I told him that I would be using an Etna and that I already owned a Delos. He confirmed that I would not experience any issues discussed here. I then mentioned that I was probably going to acquire the very low output Ortofon MC Anna sometime in the future and how did he feel about the suitability of the LP 2.1 D with this cartridge. He said that his personal cartridge of choice was in fact the MC Anna (as well as an A90) and he confirmed it was a terrific combination - he had used Ortofons personally since 1972. I mention that my amplification is a LAMM L2 Reference and LAMM ML2s. This was a good enough an endorsement for me, notwithstanding it was coming from the manufacturer.

LP 2.1 Deluxe has arrived and I have only had one listening session so far - so only about four hours on it. Very first impression of the combination with the Etna is terrific - needed a good hour to warm up to really come on song - initial impression is a big, rich, organic sound - absolutely no suggestion of lack of gain with the Lyra. Most noticible were the massive dynamic swings I am now hearing and overall everything seems to be better resolved.............oh, and it is so quiet.

Yes, anticipating a reasonable period of break in. Last edited by Smp; 09-28-2014 at 11:40 AM. |

Thanks - yes, resolution/definition is excellent.Bottom end weight is more than acceptable to me (others might well prefer more) and I think from experience with break in, when the LP 2.1 has had some time the weight will pick up - I hasten to add that my Etna is only a few weeks old as well and is no doubt going through a period of transition as well.

yes, it is all too soon, but regardless, you seem to be achieving great results straight out of the box for both components.
please keep us posted with some updates as they burn-in. enjoy! |
