Congrats, you lucky dog. I am running Ultra mm2 XLR and speaker cables with my Sophia 3 speakers. Transparent + Wilson is a great combination. Wish I could stomach the investment required for Reference MM level cables.

Hi all...
New here and quite new to the Wilson world...

I use Townshend Audio Isolda DCT cables between my Sasha's and Dual Mono Devialet's. I started using the Isolda cable with my old speakers, Quad ESL's; incredible combination. The result is not bad at all with the Sasha's.

Cheers.

no, is not a bad thing. it's only that for me is you need this "extra" means to everywhere the pre-ampli-source connection dont is/work at the top. this "box or you want to call it"
For me if I have a great combo i dont need extras to have a better sound.

Like wrote a cable MUST be a cable nothing more. I respect your opinion that if this Mit calbe modus working give more sadisfaction i'm happy for you but for a "purist" is not a good thing.

A lot of great system sound amazing without a mit product...and is possible that with another speaker cable you can have a better but too a disaster.

-------

A speaker like Wilson sound very great without the "help" from Mit cable,

The outside there are so many brands of cables that finding the right one is not easy.

No one is saying you have to like MIT or Transparent cables but saying Wilson (or any good speaker) won't sound better or need a MIT cable is the same as saying they are good enough with a simple receiver or cheap CD source. I have been using Opus SC in my system for about two weeks now. Even though the difference is very apparent I am still struggling with the potential purchase.

I use TA REF MM2 & they are an awesome match. Very neutral, great dynamics and a wide 3D soundstage.

With all the Transparent Love, I thought I'd share a couple things I've done to make my Transparent cable networks sound a notch better.

I am currently running Ref XL MM2, and would love to move up, but in the mean time, here are two things that made an noticeable difference.

1) Place a HRS Damping Plate on top of the network. Difference noticed - slight, but definitely worth the $150 that you put into the plate.

2) Replace the spikes under the TA Network Brick with Stillpoint Ultra Mini feet (or Ultra SS if you want to spend some more $). That was significant. Almost feels like you moved one level up in the TA line.

Much less then jumping a level and allows you to get the most out of your existing Transparent Network on your speaker cable.

I put the ref-xl into my system. Big soundstage, grand balanced presentation with a velvety background. Still a little dark and not quite as open and extended in the upper frequencies in my room and system.

I should probably put these up for sale so somebody else can enjoy them.

Cheers

Before you sell you Ref XL MM1, I would highly recommend the following:

- Have your local dealer loan you a pair of Ref XL MM2 or Reference MM MM2 cables and give them a listen. Although I don't know the MM1, I have heard it is very different

I think you will be impressed with the MM2 version. If you happen to fall in love with them like I did, you will recover more of your investment by upgrading your current MM1 XL to a MM2 XL cable.

I had TA Super MM2 originally and they killed my prior AQ cable
I went to TA REF MM2 MM2 and they were better, but more incremental
And then last year I want to TA REF XL MM2, and that was huge jump.

We all talk about music with air around the instruments. I had experienced that before at shows, but never in my own system. With the XL MM2, I really got the sense of space.

Recently I have used Nordost Tyr and been happy with my tube amps. With my new ss amp, I tried a set of Pure Note Paragon I had had for a few years and damned, I think I prefer them better. A bit more extension than the Nordost, and that is with Valhalla pc.
Hello turntable,

I did many tests with Speaker cables and cables in general before I have finally found my "right" one. 2 or 3 years ago my whole system was wired completely with Nordost. This included Powercables, Interconnect, Digital- and Speakercables, mainly Red Dawn, SPM, Frey and Valhalla Series.
Somehow i did not like the result and i started looking for the problem. After changing 1 or 2 Powercables (now Harmonix) and most important the speakercables, everything was fallen in place.
During my test i have tried various speakercables. Finally it was a race between Transparent, Purist Audio and Heavens Gate Audio. The later mentioned cables from Germany won and I have completed the purchase with 2 sets of IC which replaced a Valhalla and an SPM from Nordost.
They brought back the missing body without leaving speed and accuracy out.
Fast response was the main fault of the Transparent cable. But I am sure this problem will be solved if you buy from their Top-of-the-line shelf.

Last year I have checked all cables again. Nordost is still in my system with Valhalla PC for the MC402, Digital SPDIF and all around my turntable. HGA is used for my 2 CD-Players while the Amps and DAC were changed to NBS now.
The HGA-Speakercables made the race again and I am still very satisfied with them. They´ll stay hopefully for a long time!

Greetings from Germany.

Sigi

I use Purist Audio Design's Venustas- Praesto Revision with my Sophia IIIs. I have tried many cables but chose these for the price/performance (and looks)
