I use transparent ultra mm2 as speaker cables of my Sashas. I'm thinking about an upgrade. I know that opus cables would be the best, but I don't have this kind of money to spend in a cable. Which cable should I choose for an upgrade?

Regards,

Renato

You will find that the Reference MM2 are a nice upgrade if you don't think the jump to Reference XL MM2 or above is in the cards.

If I had to put a two cans with a piece of string between them in place of my speaker cables to bring out the absolute best sound out of my Lamm/Sasha pairing, you betta believe I would; especially after investing so much in our systems. I don't care what the device is, if it helps me get closer to the music and improves or enhaces the emotional connection to the playback. Transparent Audio Reference cabling (ICs & speaker cables) have done that the best so far. I can't wait to upgrade them to XL MM2.

In the Transparent´s website, it is suggested to use reference cables or above with best of the best separates. My integrated amp is an Accuphase E-450 and my speakers are Sasha. Will I have a substantial gain in the sound quality using the Reference XL speaker cable? Using the reference, would I have a similar gain, based on my equipment?

Yes you will hear a significant improvement from moving to XL from Ref.

If I understand you correctly, you're currently using Transparent Reference cables. Is that correct? Based on ALL the recommendations I've heard from Transparent Reference users who upgraded, it was unanimous that the upgrade was superlative and worth the price of admission. I'm going that way.

My current speaker cables are ultra transparent. I'm planning an upgrade on September (I'll visit New York at this time). I will check with the dealer there the cost of the upgrade. I've heard that you can customize the cable according to your system. Is this true?

The Transparent line can be very confusing. You have to be very careful when people are using terms such as Reference and XL. Several years ago there was a XL line (kind of rectangular boxes that was replaced by the Reference MM line (aka Ref 1) That was replaced by the MM2 lineup. The current MM2 lineup goes like this. Top to botom.
Opus Series
Opus MM2

Reference Series
Reference MM2
Reference XL
Rreference

Premium Series
Ultra
Super
Plus

As you can see there is a current Reference XL that has nothing in common with the older XL Series.

To answer your question yes they can be tailored to your gear BUT only Reference XL, Reference MM and Opus. The Reference level are either Hi Rez or Low Rez which are kind of averaged that will cover most gear.

Renabot77,

Go for Ref XL!! I currently own Ultra (MM2) interconnects and speaker cables.

My dealer lent me Ref XL interconnect and speaker cables for the past 2 weeks.

Stunning improvement!!!!!!!
