Vivid Audio Giya G2
Those speakers just got a stellar review in the french review Haute Fidelité which seems to consider them among the very best speakers in the world.
Their look is growing on me. I need a listen. BTW, Ivan, I know that there are not many Vivid owners here, ( Bart and an other member which I forgot the name, so sorry buddy ! ) but this company may deserve its own thread in the manufacturer's forum no ?

They would look great with the guy suspended from the ceiling! No idea on how they sound, but there definitely a lot of thought in the brand...
Best, jdk

Jérôme.......Stellar reviews aside, I have a hard time looking at this bizaar looking speaker cabinet. I am reminded of a snail. It is too art nouveau for my taste. Having said that, the Vivid Audio Giya G2 is an interesting concept in speaker design.

Dan,
I admit that the look is very special. In piano black, the more I look at them, the more they look to me like a modern art sculpture.

From an aesthetics standpoint - I can't stand them.
From a sound standpoint - I can't stand them. But to each their own.

Flat, mono-dimensional.
Almost sounded like they were under water. And it was on several different occasions on different rigs, too. Always sounded like that. Also, in person, they look really cheap. I thought they were maybe a few grand for the pair - my eyes nearly popped out when they said how much they cost.

This is so strange. They get incredible reviews everywhere that praise their realism and lifelike sound. Bart who listened lately to various TAD speakers said that his Vivid sounds more alive. I guess that there is a place for every ear under the sun.

On a side note, Laurent ( Cellindo ) heard them and found them stunning too, much better than his Sasha ( and he really loves the Sasha ).

Other than audio shows the only Vivid I have been able to audition was the K1's. On that occasion I preferred the Q3's but the Magico's looked to be set up properly whereas the K1's maybe not. On that date neither speaker sounded great but I am not sure if was the speakers or the MSB front end. It would be nice to hear them in a proper set-up but I guess that goes for all speakers. |
