Wireworld also makes DIN phono cables. I hear their Platinum DIN is outstanding.

I went with the Tricon because it brought nothing to the system - the other cables colored the sound a bit - I found the Graham a bit bright and forward so I paired it with my Transrotor/Phantom/EMI set up which was a bit laid-back and needed the Brightness and "glass" and the Crystal Ref was extraordinarily detailed but a bit too polite so I paired it with my Brinkmann/Enterprise/Dynavector combo because that setup needed a bit of taming. My Acutus/Dynavector combo doesn't require any correction - it just needed a cable that was going to do it's job and get out of the way so I paired the Tricon onto that system.

I finally received my Furutech AG-12 yesterday. It comes in a really nice box and the cable sits in some nice acoustic grooved foam.
It took a while to fit it into my Exclusive P3. the cable is quite stiff, and with my P3 it needs to go into the back of the plinth, then curve up the tonearm well to fit it into the bottom of the tonearm. The only not so good comments I will make is. Why does Furutech have the metal sleeve where the cables split into the left, right and ground cable? It seems to add unnecessary weight and potential strain on the cable/rca connectors. Looks good thou The ground wire is very good and longer than the rca cables, which is excellent. However the actual ground lug is so small, I doubt if it will ever fit around any ground terminal properly. It sounds beter than the 30 year old P3 cable and the stk Ortofon tonearm cable. It has better seperation of of instruments and soundstage positioning, was quieter and seemed to have a tigher bass. No downside really. Cables are quickly forgotten thou. Makes me wonder about the Silver Arrow tonearm cable now. The audiobeat review has it sounding tighter, more transparent and faster than the AG-12, that is after break in. It is all good and is a very good buy for the reasonable pricing. Last edited by turntable; 08-20-2011 at 07:19 AM. |
